Everest Women's Volleyball League Auction Set to Make History

Kathmandu, July 16 – The much-anticipated player auction for the second edition of the Vatsalya Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL) is all set to take place on July 17 (Shrawan 2) at the Hotel Soaltee, Kathmandu, starting from 3 PM.

Organized by Infinity Dreams, the Everest Women’s Volleyball League made history last year by successfully launching Nepal’s first-ever women’s franchise volleyball tournament. Building on that success, the second edition — scheduled for Bhadra — introduces another historic milestone with its first official player auction.

A total of six franchise teams will participate in the auction:

  • Karnali Yashwis (defending champions)

  • Lalitpur Queens

  • Kathmandu Spikers

  • Madhesh United

  • Pokhara Ninjas

  • Lumbini Lavas (new entrant)

A pool of 68 players has been listed for the auction, divided into three categories: A, B, and C. Each team is required to pick:

  • 1 player from Category A

  • 3 players from Category B

  • 3 players from Category C

There are 13 players in Category A, out of which 6 have already been signed as marquee players by each franchise. The remaining 7 players will be available in the auction. Category B includes 43 players, and Category C has 18 players.

If any player from Category A remains unsold, they will automatically be moved to Category B, and similarly, unsold Category B players will be moved to Category C.

Organizers believe that the auction system will bring a new level of transparency, competitiveness, and professionalism to women’s volleyball in Nepal. It is expected to open up greater opportunities for female athletes and uplift the overall standard of the sport.

The EWVL is shaping up to be a transformative platform in Nepal's volleyball history — and this auction marks a bold step forward.
