Kathmandu, June 29, 2025 — Nepal kicked off their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign in emphatic fashion, thrashing Laos 9–0 in their Group F opener at the Milliy Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Skipper Sabitra Bhandari ‘Samba’ led from the front with a remarkable five-goal haul, showcasing her clinical finishing and leadership on the field. Nepal dominated the match from start to finish, leaving Laos with no room to respond.
Adding to the goal fest were:
Anita Basnet – 1 goal
Saru Limbu – 1 goal
Rashmi Kumari Ghising – 1 goal
Anita KC – 1 goal
The dominant performance placed Nepal at the top of Group F, sending a strong message to their regional rivals.
Nepal’s next match in the qualifiers is scheduled for July 2, 2025, against Sri Lanka, also at the Milliy Stadium. With momentum on their side, the team will look to carry their winning form into the upcoming fixtures as they aim for a place in the final tournament.
