Nepal Hockey Association Announces Men’s and Women’s National Teams, Unveils New Jerseys
Kathmandu — The Nepal Hockey Association has officially announced the men’s and women’s national hockey teams while also unveiling their new official jerseys.
The announcement and jersey unveiling were carried out by Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, Ramchandra Mehta, during a formal programme. The event was held under the president of Nepal Hockey Association President Anil Sharma.
According to the association’s General Secretary and National Sports Council Executive Committee Member Subarna Shrestha, a 26-member women’s team has been announced under the captaincy of Gandaki’s Ankita Adhikari, while a 26-member men’s national team will be led by Kushal Nepali, also from Gandaki.
In the women’s squad, Sanju Magar, Khushbu Rana, and Madhu Kumari have been selected as goalkeepers. The forwards include Pranita Pudasaini, Ashika Mandal, Namita S.K., Bandana Bhatt, Anjali Karmakar, Babita Uraw, and Muskan Rana.
The midfield unit consists of Sitamaya Bal, Ankita Mukhiya, Gita Pun Magar, Karuna Thagunna, Niruta Giri, Sabita Rajbanshi, Laxmaniya Kumari Das, Purnima Negi, and Sapana Syangbo. In defense, Sonu Baral, Sanjita Shrestha, Bimu Nepali, Sanju Chaudhary, Sharmila Kumari, and Kriti Pulami have been included.
In the men’s team, the goalkeepers are Joshan Rai, Bibek Joshi, and Ujjwal Rajbanshi. The attacking lineup features Asim Bahik, Sudip Chaudhary, Bishu Ghimire, Mahesh Nepali, Bharat Tamata, Ronas K. Yadav, and Anish Khadka.
The midfield includes Ayush Shah, Purushottam Mahato, Mohan Pun, Umesh Shrestha, Jayanta Badu, Manish Bhatt, and Roman Rajbanshi. The defensive unit comprises Sujan Bogati, Saurabh Dangal, Manakeshwar Sah, Bibek Gurung, Nishant Bhatt, Rohit Rajbanshi, Sangam Gharti Magar, and Amin Sapkota.
The announcement marks an important step in Nepal’s preparation for upcoming international hockey competitions.
