Sabitra Bhandari Named Captain of Nepal Women’s National Football Team

Kathmandu, June 29, 2025 — Star striker Sabitra Bhandari, popularly known as Samba, has been officially appointed as the captain of the Nepal women’s national football team. She received the captain’s armband from Head Coach Patrick De Wilde ahead of Nepal’s international fixture against Laos.

The symbolic handover took place in the team tunnel just moments before kick-off, marking a proud moment for Bhandari as she led her country onto the field for the first time as skipper.

Bhandari, Nepal’s all-time leading goal scorer in women’s football, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role.
